Making Your First Trade(Test Version)
This page walks you through everything from setting up your wallet to placing your first trade on Hype Market. The whole process takes about 10–15 minutes.
Before You Start
You'll need:
A web browser (Chrome or Brave recommended)
A Movement Network-compatible wallet (we recommend Nightly)
Download Nightly wallet at https://nightly.app/ — it supports Movement Testnet out of the box.
Step 1: Set Up Your Wallet
If you don't already have a Movement-compatible wallet, start here:
Download and install Nightly wallet from https://nightly.app/
Create a new wallet or import an existing one
Open the wallet and select "Movement Testnet" as your active network
Copy your Movement wallet address — you'll need it for the faucet
Make sure your wallet is set to Movement Testnet. If you're on a different network, Hype Market will not connect properly.
Step 2: Get Test Tokens from the Faucet
Before you can trade, you need test tokens. The Movement Faucet provides free test tokens for development and testing. You'll need both MOVE (for gas fees) and USDC (for trading).
Faucet URL: https://faucet.movementnetwork.xyz/
2.1 Get Test MOVE Tokens
MOVE tokens are used to pay gas fees on the Movement Network. You need a small amount to approve transactions.
Select the network as "Movement Testnet"
Select the token as "Move"
Paste your Movement wallet address into the address field
Check the "I am human" box and click "GET MOVE"
2.2 Get Test USDC Tokens
Getting USDC from the faucet works differently from MOVE — it requires a wallet connection instead of a simple address paste. Follow these steps carefully:
Select USDC: On the faucet page, select the network as "Movement Testnet" and select the token as "USDC"
Connect your wallet: Click the "Connect" button on the faucet page
Select your wallet: Choose Nightly (or your preferred Movement-enabled wallet) from the popup
Verify connection: Once connected, your wallet address will appear next to the "CLAIM" button
Claim USDC: Click the "CLAIM" button to request test USDC tokens
Approve the transaction: Your wallet will prompt you to approve the transaction. Review the details and click "Approve"
Confirm in your wallet: After the transaction confirms, check your test USDC balance in your Nightly wallet
The faucet provides up to $60,000 USDC per day for testing purposes. This is testnet USDC with no real value.
The MOVE faucet only needs your address, but the USDC faucet requires a wallet connection because it executes an on-chain claim transaction. If you just paste your address for USDC, it won't work — you must connect and click Claim.
Step 3: Sign In to Hype Market
Click Log In in the top-right corner. Hype Market uses Privy for authentication, which gives you a unified Log in modal with four options:
Google — log in with your Google account
Email — log in with any email address
Twitter — log in with your X/Twitter account
Continue with a wallet — log in using a crypto wallet (MetaMask, etc.)
Pick whichever you prefer. All four options create the same Hype Market account with full access to the platform.
⚠️ Important: If you choose "Continue with a wallet," the linked wallet is used for login only. Hype Market does not have access to funds in your connected wallet. To trade, you must deposit funds into your Hype Market account balance separately (see Step 2).
Step 4: Deposit Funds into Hype Market
Now that you have test USDC in your wallet, you need to transfer it to your Hype Market account to start trading.
4.1 Find Your Hype Market Deposit Address
Click on "Funds" in the top navigation bar
On the Manage Funds page, you'll see your Hype Market Wallet section
Click the "Copy" button next to your Hype Market wallet USDC address
Only deposit USDC on Movement Chain to this address. Sending tokens from other networks may result in lost funds.
4.2 Send USDC from Nightly Wallet to Hype Market
Open your Nightly wallet and find your USDC balance (listed as "Circle" / USDC)
Tap on your USDC balance, then click the "Send" button
In the "Send to" field, paste your Hype Market wallet USDC address (copied in Step 4.1)
Enter the amount you want to deposit (e.g., 60,000 USDC)
Click "Next" to review the transaction details
Review the confirmation screen: verify the address, network (Movement), and fee. Click "Next" to confirm
Wait for the transaction to complete. You'll see a "Finished!" confirmation screen
4.3 Verify Your Deposit
Go back to dev.hypemarket.trade and click "Funds" in the top navigation
Your USDC balance should now reflect the deposited amount (e.g., $60,000.00)
Deposits typically appear within a few seconds on testnet. If your balance doesn't update, try refreshing the page.
Step 5: Browse Markets
Head to the Markets page. You'll see active markets organized by category — crypto, sports, politics, culture, and more.
Each market listing shows:
The question being asked
Current share prices (YES and NO, reflecting the crowd's estimated probability)
Volume traded so far
Resolution date and oracle source
Boost badge if the market earns 2x HMark Points (see Boosted Markets)
Use filters and search to find markets you're interested in. Click into any market for more detail — the full question, resolution criteria, and trading interface.
Step 6: Pick Your Side
Let's say you've found this market:
"Will ETH exceed $5,000 by June 30, 2026?"
YES: $0.40 — NO: $0.60
The market is pricing a roughly 40% chance that ETH exceeds $5,000 by that date. If you think the real probability is higher than 40%, buying YES is a good trade. If you think it's lower, buying NO is.
Select YES or NO to open the trade panel.
Step 7: Choose Your Size
You have three ways to set your trade size:
Quick Presets
Tap a preset button: $5 / $10 / $50 / $100 / Max (or a percentage of your account balance). Fast and simple.
Conviction Presets
Choose Light, Medium, or Max conviction. These map to different trade sizes with visual intensity cues. They settle as normal trades — the labels are just a UX shortcut to help you size quickly.
Pro Mode
Toggle to Pro mode for manual input if you want exact control over your position size.
Step 8: Review and Confirm
Before you confirm, the trade panel shows:
Position
YES or NO
Shares
Number of shares you're buying
Cost
Total amount you'll pay
Avg. Price
Price per share
Potential Payout
What your shares are worth if you're right ($1 per share)
Protocol Fee
1% of trade value
Creator Fee
0–2%, set by the market creator (shown if applicable)
Est. HMark Points
Points you'll earn from this trade
Review these details, then hit Confirm. The transaction confirms in about one second on Movement, and your new position appears in your portfolio.
Step 9: Manage Your Position
After buying, you have three options:
Hold
Wait for the market to resolve. If your side wins, each share is redeemable for $1.00.
Sell Early
You can sell your shares at any time before resolution at the current market price. This lets you take profit or cut losses without waiting.
Buy More
If your conviction strengthens (or if the price moves to a level you find attractive), you can add to your position.
Step 10: Redeem After Resolution
When a market resolves:
If you hold winning shares, you can redeem them for $1.00 each
If you hold losing shares, they're worth $0.00
Redemptions are credited to your Hype Market account balance. From there, you can trade in other markets or withdraw.
A Worked Example
You think ETH will exceed $5,000 by June 30, 2026. Here's your trade:
You buy 200 YES shares at $0.40 each
Your cost: 200 × $0.40 = $80
Protocol fee (1%): $0.80
Creator fee (let's say 2%): $1.60
Total cost: $82.40
HMark Points earned: 80 HP (1 HP per $1 of traded volume)
If ETH exceeds $5,000: Your 200 shares are worth 200 × $1.00 = $200. Profit: $117.60.
If ETH doesn't exceed $5,000: Your shares are worth $0. Loss: $82.40.
If you sell early: Say YES has moved to $0.70 a few weeks later. You sell 200 shares at $0.70 = $140. Gross profit: $57.60. Protocol fee on sell (1%): $1.40. Net profit: $56.20.
Tips for New Traders
Start small. Get comfortable with how the interface works before putting serious capital to work. A few $5–$20 trades will teach you more than reading docs.
Read the resolution criteria. Before buying, check exactly how the market resolves. "Will BTC hit $200K?" means different things depending on the data sources the AI Resolver will query and the exact timestamp.
Watch for Boosted markets. Markets with the Boost badge earn 2x HMark Points. Same fee, double the reward — look for these when browsing.
Don't forget you can sell. You're never locked in. If your view changes or you want to take profit, sell your shares on the open market.
Check fees before confirming. The 1% protocol fee is standard, but creator fees vary from 0% to 2%. The total is always shown in the trade panel.
Troubleshooting
Wallet won't connect
Make sure you're on Movement Testnet. Try refreshing the page and reconnecting.
Faucet not working
The faucet has a daily limit. Wait 24 hours and try again. Make sure you've completed the "I am human" check.
USDC faucet shows no Claim button
You need to click Connect and link your wallet first. Unlike MOVE, the USDC faucet requires a wallet connection — you can't just paste an address.
Deposit not showing
Refresh the Funds page. Verify you sent USDC on Movement chain (not Ethereum or another network). Check the transaction on the explorer.
Transaction failed
Make sure you have enough MOVE tokens for gas fees. Get more from the faucet if needed.
FAQ
What's the minimum trade size?
There's no hard protocol minimum, but very small trades (under $1) may not be practical after fees. Most users start with $5 or more.
Can I trade on mobile?
Yes — the web interface is mobile-responsive. A native mobile app is on the roadmap for later in 2026.
What happens if I forget about a position?
After a market resolves, your winning shares remain redeemable. They don't expire. Losing shares simply become worthless — no action needed.
Do I earn HMark Points on every trade?
Yes. You earn 1 HMark Point per $1 of traded volume. If the market is Boosted, you earn 2x. See How to Earn HMark Points.
How do I withdraw my funds?
Go to the Funds section and select Withdraw. You can withdraw to an external wallet on Movement. From there, you can bridge to Ethereum or other chains if needed.
Do I need real money to try Hype Market?
No. On testnet, you can get free test tokens from the Movement Faucet at faucet.movementnetwork.xyz. These have no real value — they're for testing and learning the platform.
