Creating a Market
Anyone can create a prediction market on Hype Market. Pose a question, define the outcomes, seed some liquidity, and set your creator fee. When people trade in your market, you earn a direct cut of every trade.
No application. No approval process. No gatekeepers.
Why Create Markets?
Earn real revenue. Set a creator fee between 0% and 2% of trading volume. If your market generates $100K in volume at a 2% fee, that's $2,000 directly to you.
Build a public track record. Your market resolution accuracy, total volume, and follower engagement are tracked on public leaderboards.
Engage your audience. Instead of just posting a take, you can create a market around it. Your followers trade their own views β turning one-way content into two-way engagement.
Step by Step
Write a Clear Question
The question must be well-defined and unambiguous. Anyone reading it should understand exactly what each outcome means.
β Good: "Will Bitcoin exceed $150,000 by December 31, 2026?"
β Good: "Will the Fed cut rates at their June 2026 meeting?"
β Vague: "Will Bitcoin moon?"
β Ambiguous: "Will AI be bigger than crypto?"
Tip: The clearer your question, the more traders trust the resolution β and the more volume you attract.
Choose a Resolution Source
Every market needs a pre-defined way to determine the result:
Oracle source: Which data feed resolves the outcome? (Chainlink, Pyth, AP, custom API)
Resolution date: When does the market close?
Dispute bond: For subjective markets, the collateral required to challenge a resolution
Markets resolved by well-known oracle feeds (price data, official results) attract more traders. Ambiguous resolution criteria scare away volume.
Seed Initial Liquidity
Deposit collateral to provide starting liquidity. This allows the first traders to buy shares without prohibitive slippage.
You can use stablecoins (USDC, USDT), yield-bearing stablecoins (USDY, USDe), HMARK, or other supported tokens.
The minimum initial liquidity is $500. More initial liquidity means tighter spreads and a better experience for early traders. A few hundred dollars is a reasonable starting point for a niche market.
After the market resolves, your seed liquidity is unlocked and can be redeemed. Your initial deposit plus any accumulated creator fees can be withdrawn at that point.
π‘ You earn HMark Points equal to your seed amount. Seeding $500 earns 500 HP. Seeding $2,000 earns 2,000 HP. This stacks with the "Create Your First Market" milestone quest (+10 HP).
Set Your Creator Fee
Choose between 0% and 2% of trading volume. This fee is charged on every trade and goes directly to you, on top of the 1% protocol fee.
0%
Maximum volume. Good for reputation-building or community markets.
1%
Balanced. Most creators start here.
2%
Higher per-trade revenue, but may discourage some volume. Best with captive audiences.
The fee is displayed to traders before they confirm, so there are no hidden costs.
Monetization: The Full Picture
As a market creator, you can earn from multiple layers at once:
Creator fees
0β2% of all volume in your markets
HMark Points
Points from your own trading activity β monthly Points Pool share
Referral rewards
Bonus points + cash when your followers trade (via your referral link)
Passive yield
Use yield-bearing stablecoins to seed liquidity β earn APY on your deposit
Worked Example
You're a crypto analyst. In one month:
You launch 5 markets with a 2% creator fee
Combined volume across your markets: $200,000
Creator fee revenue: $200,000 Γ 2% = $4,000
Your own trading earns 800 HP, referral bonuses add 400 HP
Estimated Points Pool share: ~$300
Referral cash over the month: ~$50
Estimated total: ~$4,350 from fees, points, referrals, and yield combined.
These numbers are illustrative. Actual results depend on platform volume, points distribution, and activity levels.
Tips for Driving Volume
Pick timely topics. Markets tied to upcoming events (earnings, elections, launches) create natural urgency.
Promote your markets. Share them on Twitter, discuss on streams, post in your Discord. The market link is your content.
Create series. "Weekly BTC Predictions" or "Q2 Macro Calls" builds a returning audience.
Engage with traders. Share your thesis publicly. Respond to discussion. Traders who connect with the creator trade more often.
Watch for Boost campaigns. If Hype Market boosts a topic you're covering, your markets earn 2x points for traders β drawing extra volume your way.
Creator Arenas & Seasons ποΈ Planned β Mid 2026
Arenas are on the roadmap. Here's what's planned.
What Is an Arena?
A dedicated, branded creator page on Hype Market where your markets are organized and your audience can follow your predictions in one place.
Seasons
Markets in an Arena are grouped into seasons β like chapters or campaign arcs:
Season 1: "Q2 2026 Macro Predictions" (10 markets)
Season 2: "ETH Denver Special" (5 markets)
Seasons give structure and keep your audience coming back.
Leaderboards
Creator performance is tracked publicly:
Volume leaderboard: Total trading volume across your markets
Accuracy leaderboard: Resolution accuracy over time
Follower PnL: Aggregate profit/loss of traders in your markets
Good performance attracts more traders, which increases your fee revenue.
Streamer Widgets ποΈ Planned
Embeddable overlays for Twitch, YouTube, and X Spaces:
Show live odds from your markets on stream
Chat-friendly calls-to-action
Real-time price updates as your audience watches

FAQ
How much liquidity should I seed?
The minimum is $500. More is better for early traders (tighter spreads, less slippage). Scale up as volume grows.
Can I withdraw my initial liquidity?
Yes. After the market resolves, your seed liquidity is unlocked and can be redeemed. Your initial deposit plus any accumulated creator fees can be withdrawn at that point.
What if nobody trades in my market?
You keep your initial liquidity (minus any price movement from your own activity), but you won't earn creator fees. Timely topics and active promotion are the best way to attract volume.
